The Galician Wind Association (EGA) considers Galicia the fourth wind power in Europe, bettered only by Germany, Spain and Denmark and the sixth in the world after the United States and India.
In 2007, the total power managed by the sum of the stakeholders of the Galician Wind Association reached some 2.414,92 megawatts (MW). The autonomous administration has placed as its objective the installation of up to 6.500 megawatts by 2010, more than initially estimated.
Since 1996, the sector has invested 2.500 millóns Euro, the proceeds of which have consolidated a powerful industry in components production. In 2007, wind energy in Galicia maintained a stable workforce, between directors and staff, of 5,500 people.
